Description Trafalgar is proud to partner with GCP Applied Technologies to offer MONOKOTE® fire spray systems to the Australian markets. Protection of steel structures against fire requires careful design and good application to ensure compliance with National Construction Code (Building Code of Australia) and AS4100 our local Australian design requirements pertaining to the use of structural steel in buildings. There a numerous fire tested and approved systems for MONOKOTE® and the correct product must be selected to match the environment condition the steel will be subjected to during the life of the building. Monokote MK-6 HY systems are ideal for internal applications and can be applied with our without a yield enhancer or accelerator which help the material dry quickly. Monokote Z106 systems are used in semi exposed areas like steel work under awnings for example. Monokote Z146 systems are used in external or fully exposed areas where the steel is exposed to permanently to the elements. It is also the same material used in cryogenic or freezer applications and tunnels where hydrocarbon, jet fire  and other harsh fire exposures are required. Special Design Considerations Our Engineering support services can assist you with more than just what thickness is required for a given fire rating (FRL), we provide technical advice that deals with: Interfaces to other fireproofing materials such as board and intumescent coatings Castellated beams or beams with holes for services to run through the beam web areas Coat back requirement for secondary steel members with no fire rating (FRL) requirements Situation where structural member need to pass through fire barriers such as walls, shafts, ceiling or floor slabs We like to work closely with the structurally engineering, fire safety engineering and construction team to assist present viable system designs that the Building Surveyors or Principal Certifying Authorities can easily approve as compliant with our BCC / BCA. MONOKOTE®, fire spray, is the leading passive fire protection solution for commercial structural steel. Monokote fire spray systems offered by Trafalgar Fire offer full compliance pathways for internal, semi-exposed and external steelwork. Interfaces with intumescent coatings and fire-rated boards are covered when using Monokote. Features: Monokote® fire spray benefits include: Vermiculite-FREE fire spray – Vermiculite when mined has been known to include Tremolite, a type of asbestos Sustainable packaging and materials with independent EPD documentation Fire Tested and approved in accordance AS 1530.4-2014 AS4100 regression data for compliant thicknesses of material for steel protection Full systems for ease of compliance against NCC Cost-effective construction Highest yield reducing material requirements and carbon footprint Proven in-place performance Fully trained installer network Field support from Trafalgar Engineers as required   Applications: Specifically designed for the fire protection of structures in steel structures.
